Professional Consultation Policies
These policies apply to individual consultation and consultation groups offered through Michael Pretz Therapy. By scheduling an individual consultation or registering for a consultation group, you agree to the policies for that service.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of booking or registration unless you have made another arrangement in advance.
Registration for a multi-meeting consultation group reserves your place for the full series. Services and consultation meetings that have already been provided are non-refundable.
Individual Consultation Cancellations & Refunds
You may cancel or reschedule an individual consultation with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the scheduled consultation are eligible for a full refund or may be rescheduled.
Consultations canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, are forfeited and are not eligible for a refund.
Consultation Group Cancellations & Refunds
Because consultation groups are intentionally small and registration reserves one of a limited number of spaces:
14 or more days before the first meeting: You may cancel for a refund minus a $25 processing fee.
Fewer than 14 days before the first meeting: Registration is non-refundable.
Registration is for the full consultation group, not individual meetings. Missed meetings are not eligible for partial refunds, credits, or prorated fees.
Attendance & Consultation Hours
Consultation hours are based on actual participation in live consultation. Participants may receive documentation only for the consultation hours they attend.
Consultation groups are active professional consultation experiences. Participants are expected to come prepared to participate, bring clinical questions or case material when appropriate, and contribute to the consultation process.
Participants seeking consultation hours toward EMDRIA Certification are responsible for confirming that their consultation hours and other certification requirements meet current EMDRIA standards.
Confidentiality & Case Material
Professional consultation may include discussion of real clinical cases. Participants are expected to protect client confidentiality and disclose only the information necessary for meaningful consultation.
Case material should be de-identified and participants should not share any PHI. Participants are responsible for complying with the laws, ethical standards, professional regulations, and client-consent requirements applicable to their own practice.
Information shared by other participants during group consultation is confidential and may not be discussed or shared outside of the consultation group.
Recording
Consultation meetings may not be audio recorded, video recorded, photographed, transcribed, or otherwise reproduced without prior written permission.
This helps protect participants' privacy and the confidentiality of clinical material discussed during consultation.
Consultation Is Not Supervision
Consultation is a professional learning relationship and does not constitute clinical supervision.
I may provide clinical perspectives, feedback, education, and consultation related to EMDR, IFS, case conceptualization, and other areas within my scope of knowledge. You remain responsible for your own clinical judgment, scope of practice, therapeutic relationships, documentation, ethical obligations, and the care you provide to your clients.
Professional Responsibility
Consultation is intended to support your clinical thinking and professional development. You are responsible for determining whether ideas or recommendations discussed in consultation are appropriate for your clients, training, scope of practice, licensure, and applicable ethical and legal requirements.
Participation in consultation does not guarantee EMDRIA Certification or any other professional credential.
If a consultation need falls outside my scope of knowledge or experience, I may recommend consultation with another professional whose expertise is better suited to the issue.
Educational Materials & Intellectual Property
Worksheets, handouts, frameworks, presentations, and other materials provided through individual or group consultation are for the participant’s personal professional use.
Unless otherwise stated, materials may not be reproduced, republished, distributed, sold, or used for commercial training or educational purposes without written permission.
Accessibility & Accommodations
I want consultation offerings to be accessible to participants with different needs.
If you require a reasonable accommodation to participate in a consultation group, please contact me as early as possible so we can discuss what would support your participation and what accommodations we can reasonably provide.
Equal Access & Respectful Participation
I am committed to providing professional consultation in a respectful, inclusive, and accessible environment.
Participation is offered without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
Harassment, discriminatory conduct, threats, or behavior that significantly interferes with others' safety or participation will not be permitted.
Removal From a Consultation Group
Participants may be removed from a consultation group for serious breaches of confidentiality, harassment, discriminatory conduct, repeated disruption of the consultation environment, or other significant violations of these policies.
Removal for a serious policy violation does not entitle the participant to a refund.
If I Need to Cancel or Reschedule
I make every effort to provide consultation services and groups as scheduled. Occasionally, illness, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances may require rescheduling. If I cancel a paid consultation service and cannot reasonably reschedule it, I will refund payment for the affected service.
Concerns or Grievances
If you have a concern about a consultation service, group experience, accessibility issue, or professional conduct, please contact me directly. I will review concerns in good faith and make reasonable efforts to respond fairly and promptly.
